At 5 feet 7, Isaac Pavlik often has been told that he is too small for the big leagues.

He has come up huge for the New Jersey Jackals.

Pavlik, a Ramsey resident and a Rutherford native, was one of the primary reasons the Jackals clinched the independent Can-Am League's first-half championship last week, which secured their place in the playoffs in September. Pavlik has posted a 5-2 record and a 3.11 ERA, and the left-hander leads the league with 50 strikeouts.
