THERE were some surprise last minute inclusions in the national contingent for the Asian Cycling Championships in Samarinda, Indonesia next week, but none that irked national head coach John Beasley as much as China's 2010 Asian Games stunner.

China, as it is, have excluded the 1km time trial from the Asian Games in Guangzhou next year, but with the 500m time trial for women remaining on the programme, questions are being asked whether it was merely to deny Malaysia a gold medal.
