GENEVA, Aug. 11, 2009 (IPS/GIN) - Badly hit by the global
economic crisis and the appreciation of the euro - and therefore
of the franc CFA that is directly linked to it - the West
African nation of Mali has found its local exports have become
less competitive.
In response, the country's leaders have asked the United
Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) to help
formulate a national trade policy would connect trade
liberalisation with developmental goals such as poverty
eradication.
