FED: Nurse-operated clinics are 'supermarket medicine': doctors

CANBERRA, Aug 13 AAP - Australia's doctors say patients will be exposed to dangerous
"supermarket medicine" if nurses are allowed to treat the sick at clinics in pharmacies.

Perth-based Revive Clinics and the Pharmacy Alliance Group plan to open more than 180
pharmacy clinics across the country over the next three years. They'll be staffed by nurse
practitioners rather than doctors.

The clinics will treat up to 30 common medical conditions, including sore throats,
ear infections, colds, flu and bladder infections.
