MALAYSIA has yet to decide whether it will appoint a Chinese company to lay the double-track railway between Gemas and Johor Baru.
Transport Minister Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat said the process of appointing a company to build the 197km railway, costing about RM7.5 billion, had not reached the final stage.
However, it is learnt that the Economic Planning Unit in the Prime Minister's Department had met with its Chinese counterpart to hold talks on the project.
