WITH the sluggishness of the property market that has caused values to decline, a question at the top of owners' minds is whether assessment tax should be reviewed.
In all states, the basis of its computation, the government's estimated yearly rent of a property upon which a percentage of tax is charged bi-annually, was last revised several years ago, before the economic tsunami hit the nation's shores.
In Selangor's districts of Ampang, Petaling Jaya and Kajang, for example, the last assessment was done in 2006.
