KUALA LUMPUR: MIC president Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu yesterday accused Datuk S. Subramaniam of using the issue of election rigging in the 1977 party polls to gain sympathy votes at Saturday's elections.

He said the former deputy president was trying to elicit the support of delegates to the meeting.
He said Subramaniam, who is challenging incumbent deputy president and Samy Vellu ally Datuk G. Palanivel, was in cohorts with former vice-president Datuk V. Govindaraj to destroy the credibility of the election process.
