KATHMANDU, Jan. 29 (IPS) -- Relations between the Himalayan
kingdom of Nepal and its giant neighbor, India, have always been
love-hate. Both countries now seem to want to turn that into
give-take.
Officials from the two countries have been in the thick of
negotiations since Jan. 26 when Indian External Affairs Minister
Pranab Mukherjee came calling to Kathmandu.
Though the talks have centered around a number of prominent
issues such as the Bhutanese refugee problem and revising the 1950
Nepal-India Treaty of Peace and Friendship, officials say the major
thrust of talks has been on economic cooperation, trade and transit
