China Merchants Net Fell 14% in H1

HONG KONG, Sep 11, 2009 (SinoCast Daily Business Beat via COMTEX) -- China Merchants Holdings (International) Co. Ltd. (CMHI; SEHK: 0144) got net profits of HKD 1.728 billion in the first half of 2009, slipping 14.4% from a year earlier, according to its interim report released on September 10.

Pre-tax profits reached HKD 1.116 billion after the deduction of non-recurring profit and loss, dropping 40.7%. Net profits of continuing operations hit CNY 1.236 billion, sliding 36%, considering the effect from the equity sales of Hempel-Hai Hong (China) Ltd. a joint venture with the Hempel Group.
