FED: Aboriginal remains held in UK to be returned to Australia

SYDNEY, Sept 11 AAP - Aboriginal remains held by National Museums Scotland and the
Royal College of Surgeons in London are to be returned to Australia.

A skull and jawbone of two individuals, taken more than 150 years ago, are expected
to be repatriated within a fortnight in the care of delegates from the Tasmanian Aboriginal
Centre.

Their return is being hailed as a victory for the repatriation of human remains from
overseas museums.

The jawbone, kept by the Royal College of Surgeons since the 1880s, was acquired around
1830 by Christian missionary George Augustus Robinson.
