JERSEY CITY When former U.S. Open champion Tom Kite and his co-course designer Robert Cupp first got a look at the land on which they built Liberty National Golf Club, they didnt exactly see a place to build 18 holes.
"The first time we showed up here, it was a nightmare," Cupp said Tuesday. "We were pretty sure any travesty known to man was on this property."
