Qld: Teachers outraged at interim pay rise decision

BRISBANE, Sept 17 AAP - The Queensland Teachers Union (QTU) is outraged at a four per
cent interim pay rise decision made by the Queensland Industrial Relations Commission.

The pay rise, backdated to July 1, is substantially less than the 5.4 per cent rise
the QTU was seeking and is half a per cent less than the state government's original offer.

QTU president Steve Ryan labelled the commission's decision, made late on Wednesday,
as "disgraceful".

"It's been led by the state government, who has been hiding behind the commission throughout
