REP. Scott Garrett was sitting about three rows in front of Rep. Bill Pascrell Jr. during President Obama's speech Wednesday night, but they were philosophically miles apart.
Pascrell, D-Paterson, sat with two Democratic colleagues on the Republican side of the center aisle near the center door of the House chamber, which gave him a chance to vie for a fraction of face time with the guests coming through the door. He got a handshake from Obama, and a kiss from Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, whose campaign against Obama he supported.
