Law Equity Committee on Senate Judiciary October 7, 2009 I. Statement of
Interest Chairman Leahy, Ranking Minority Member Sessions, and members
of the Committee on the Judiciary, thank you for this opportunity to testify
in strong support of the use of Alternative Dispute Resolution (``ADR``)
in employment, the use of mediation and arbitration as effective alternatives
to litigation, and the U.S. Supreme Court`s decision in Circuit City Stores,
Inc. v. Adams,1 and in strong opposition to S. 931, ``The Arbitration Fairness
