JERUSALEM, Nov. 12, 2009 (IPS/GIN) - The streets are filled with
shoppers and an old cinema hall is being refurbished to the delight
of movie aficionados.
Cinema Jenin will open in the historic building that housed a
movie theater since the 1950s. The building's refurbishment is
being carried out by local construction crews assisted by German
volunteers.
Only a few years ago this northern West Bank town was at the
vanguard of Palestinian resistance to the Israeli occupation. Today
it is the model of a renewed Palestine.
