White House denies deal implies guilt
WASHINGTON, Sept. 27 (UPI) _ While negotiations continue over a
possible settlement of the long-standing Paula Jones sexual harassment
case, a White House attorney denies such a deal would mean President
Clinton was admitting guilt.
Deputy White House counsel Bruce Lindsey said today said while the
Clinton camp has countered Jones' original offer to settle the case for
$1 million, ``it doesn't mean he did anything wrong.''
That word came from the entourage traveling with Clinton after an
attorney for Jones, David Pyke, told NBC's ``Meet the Press'' program
that the president's agreeing to settle out of court means ...
