Fewers deaths from heart attacks

BOSTON, Sept. 23 (UPI) _ In the most comprehensive portrait yet of
heart disease in the United States, a study confirms the rate of death
from heart attacks has fallen about 30 percent in the last eight years.

Researchers credit better technology and treatment, improved prevention
and greater awareness of heart disease.

The report, which appears in Thursday's issue of The New England
Journal of Medicine, follows news of a similar trend released in August
by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
