A new television station in Detroit

For R.J. Watkins, the situation was such that after many years of being a regular presence on Detroit television via an entertainment/talk show and a dance show, he spent a rather lengthy amount of time off the air and out of the spotlight. But as it turns out, it was a matter of out of sight, not out of action.

Without a lot of fanfare, Watkins purchased a building on Woodward, launched a radio station (WHPR), and is now ready to introduce a television station, TNVS (UHF, Channel 68).
