Lahoud: No separate peace with Israel

BEIRUT, Lebanon, Oct. 15 (UPI) _ Lebanese president-elect Gen. Emile
Lahoud says he rejects a ``partial and separate'' peace with Israel and
will continue to coordinate with Syria to secure a complete Israeli
withdrawal from occupied Arab territories.

In his first statement since his unanimous election as Lebanon's 11th
president by the 128-member Parliament earlier today, Lahoud said,
``Our constant concern will be to achieve a just peace, simultaneously
with sisterly Syria, in demanding a complete (Israeli) withdrawal and
rejecting partial and separate solutions.''
