When Noble High took a 15-0 second-quarter lead against South Portland
Friday night, you could almost hear the vocal home crowd predicting the final
score.
Maybe 28-0. Wait, it is South Portland and all the tradition that goes with
it. We'll give them a touchdown - 28-6.
Noble may be the defending state Class A champion. It may have beaten South
Portland in last year's Western regional final.
But the Red Riots made the trek down the turnpike with purpose and more
than a little bit of pride. In a stunning turnaround, South Portland scored
three unanswered touchdowns and left town with an eye-popping 21-15 ...
