Mike Ditka was just getting ready to hang up the phone Wednesday afternoon
following a little talk about the past, the present and the future as they
pertain both to himself and the New Orleans Saints, the team he coaches.
After the chat with the members of the New England media and some attempts
to assess Sunday's matchup between the Saints and the New England Patriots in
New Orleans, Ditka signed off.
``God bless you guys,'' he said.
Yes, that's God bless you. And yes, that's Iron Mike Ditka, somehow reduced
to football's version of Tiny Tim.
Physically, mentally, spiritually, Ditka is a long way removed ...
