The song ``Magic Carpet Ride'' was blaring on the radio in the South
Portland locker room before practice one day this week.
``We don't have a team song,'' said quarterback Ryan Piper.
If the Riots beat favored Noble today and prolong their surprising run
through the Class A football playoffs, they might want to adopt that 1968
Steppenwolf hit.
No. 5 South Portland faces No. 1 Noble at Berwick at 1 p.m. in one of two
Western Class A semifinals. In the other, No. 2 Biddeford and No. 6 Sanford
play at Waterhouse Field at 2 p.m. The winners will play for the regional
