Nutrition is key for premature babies
LONDON, Nov. 26, (UPI) _ Researchers say good nutrition from the day of
birth can significantly enhance the mental ability of premature babies
later in life.
Writing in this week's issue of The Lancet, a British medical journal,
doctors said the result of a large study clearly shows that nutrition
plays a very key role in the early development of the brain.
This finding has never before been shown so clearly in research in the
developed world, said Professor Alan Lucas of Britain's Medical
Research Council.
In a randomized controlled study, Lucas fed 424 premature babies a
``nutrition enriched'' pre-term formula ...
