Article: Princeton U. committee suggests changes to financial aid calculations

(Daily Princetonian) (U-WIRE) PRINCETON, N.J. -- Students on financial aid with outside scholarships will no longer lose University grant money under a proposed $300,000 change to financial aid policy.

Whereas only half of the money from any scholarship of more than $500 is presently deducted from the self-help portion of students' financial aid packages, all of it would be deducted from that area under the proposal.

Half of the scholarship amount above $500 will no longer be deducted from grants.

"It ensures that students either have to work less while at Princeton or they have less of a debt burden once they leave Princeton," said USG academics chair ...
