(The Crimson White) (U-WIRE) TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- Alabama knows it will take on Virginia Tech in the inaugural American General Music City Bowl, but as it relates to the Hokies, that's about it.

Virginia Tech finished the regular season 8-3 and finished second in the Big East conference. The Hokies played in the Orange Bowl last year against Nebraska, and the year before qualified for the Sugar Bowl. The Hokies are currently ranked No. 24 in the nation.

Still, Alabama linebacker Trevis Smith said he was not real familiar with the Virginia Tech team.

"I don't know what to expect," Smith said. "I hear they have a strong defense, but I really don't know ...
