Hot flashes cooled by anti-depressant

SAN ANTONIO, Dec. 14 (UPI) _ Cancer investigators say uncomfortable and
bothersome hot flashes that often accompany breast cancer treatments
can be dramatically reduced by common anti-depressants.
At the 21st annual San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium researchers said
today incidences of hot flashes were reduced by two-thirds and their
severity was reduced 75 percent after six weeks of treatment with
paroxetine, sold as Paxil.
Researchers at the Lombardi Cancer Center at Georgetown University
Medical Center, Washington, began the study after patients who had been
treated for depression reported ...
