Two people have been hospitalized after drinking unpasteurized milk
contaminated with E. coli bacteria, according to state health officials.
The raw milk, produced at a single farm, was pulled from the shelves of 11
stores in central Maine on Friday, said Dr. Dora Anne Mills, director of the
Maine Bureau of Health.
Signs have been posted in the stores warning customers that milk from the
dairy could be contaminated, and the farm's regular customers have been
notified by phone, Mills said.
Mills and Dr. Kathleen Gensheimer, the state epidemiologist, both refused
