Article: Report: Indonesia seeks tax payment for car project

JAKARTA, Indonesia (AP) _ The Indonesian government is demanding $440 million in import duty and luxury tax exemptions from a company run by former President Suharto's son, a report said Friday.

Quoting the director general of excise and customs, Martiono Hadianto, the Bisnis Indonesia newspaper reported that the government has sent the bill to car maker PT Timor Putra Nasional for immediate payment.

The company is run by Hutomo Mandala ``Tommy'' Putra, Suharto's youngest son.

``This is the final calculation, and there will be no more bargaining,'' the report quoted Martiono as saying.
