CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) _ About 250 people nearly filled the pews of a Charlotte church Wednesday to pray for President Clinton with an impeachment vote in Congress looming.
After listening to several gospel songs, the group at the Little Rock African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church heard speaker after speaker rail against Republican-led efforts to impeach the Democratic president.
``It's a critical time for us as a nation,'' said Bishop Cecil Bishop. ``What we are seeing being played out before us is an effort of belligerent and unbridled hostility to remove from office a president who was elected twice by the people.''
