ZAGREB, Croatia (AP) _ The commander of Croatia's most notorious World War II concentration camp was indicted for war crimes Tuesday, six months after he was extradited from Argentina, where he had lived quietly for nearly half a century.

Dinko Sakic, 76, was charged with crimes against humanity in the deaths of more than 2,000 people at the Jasenovac concentration camp during the nine months he ran the camp in 1944, the state-run HINA news agency reported.

Sakic is accused of ``maltreating, torturing and killing detainees'' and of allowing his subordinates to do the same from April to November 1944.
