DETROIT (AP) _ Norm Maracle made the most of a rare start in goal for the Detroit Red Wings.
Maracle stopped 26 shots in place of the injured Chris Osgood as the Red Wings defeated the Anaheim Mighty Ducks 5-2 Wednesday night.
``I'm just glad to get some ice time,'' said Maracle, making just his second start and third appearance of the season as Osgood nursed a sore hip flexor. ``When Ozzie's well, he's the man. I just want to play well when I have the opportunity and show Scotty (Bowman) that I can play a little bit.''
Several of Maracle's saves were spectacular, especially a leg stop on Johan Davidsson's second-period breakaway.
