PITTSBURGH (AP) _ Bobby Jones lost his spot once before in the Colorado Rockies' rotation, and he's determined that it won't happen again.
In fact, Jones has dedicated the rest of the 1998 season to ensuring he's one of the Rockies' five starters when they open 1999 spring training.
He made a strong case by pitching eight strong innings and hitting a pair of RBI singles in Monday night's 7-2 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates.
