Gov. signs 'preemie bill'
LOS ANGELES, Aug. 5 (UPI) _ It is no longer legal to use premature
infants in movies and TV shows made in California.
Gov. Pete Wilson signed a bill prohibiting the practice, which Screen
Actors Guild President Richard Masur described today as ``a new, but
growing trend.''
Masur says SAG members had become increasingly alarmed over the past
several years that they were being asked to work with premature babies,
usually in scenes recreating birth on the screen.
The bill was written by Assemblywoman Sheila Kuehl, who was once a
child actor. It prohibits the employment of anyone less than one month
old in the entertainment ...
