TORONTO (AP) _ Criticized in the past for lax pursuit of war criminals, Canada on Tuesday announced a fivefold increase in funding to root out Nazi collaborators and recent immigrants accused of modern-day war crimes.
The government said it will allocate $31 million over the next three years so the Justice Department can open new investigations into World War II cases and the Immigration Department can deport scores of people suspected of crimes in modern conflicts.
