NEW YORK (AP) _ Lafi Khalil was a participant, not a bystander, in a plot by his roommate to target Jews by bombing a busy subway station, a prosecutor said Tuesday.
``Whenever anything critical occurred, Lafi Khalil and Gazi Abu Mezer were together. That's powerful evidence of a conspiracy _ not a coincidence,'' Assistant U.S. Attorney John Curran said in summing up the case against the two Palestinian immigrants.
But Abu Mezer's attorney said there wasn't enough solid evidence to prove that either defendant was involved in such a scheme.
``This case is in so many ways a farce ... like a plot in a Woody Allen movie,'' ...
