SALT LAKE CITY (AP) _ Mormon leaders deny a report that they plan to disavow a doctrine that denied blacks the priesthood because of a church belief that linked their skin color to a biblical curse.

The matter has not been discussed by church leaders, said the First Presidency, the final decision-making body of the 10 million-member church.

The Los Angeles Times reported Monday that officials of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints are debating a proposal to repudiate some historic doctrines and statements linking skin color to the curse of Cain.
