TRIPOLI, Libya (AP) _ Libyan leader Col. Moammar Gadhafi appeared before Western journalists for the first time since a reported assassination attempt, denying that he had been wounded or that such an attack occurred.

``People say Gadhafi has been a target of numerous assassination attempts,'' he said in an interview Tuesday with Associated Press Television.

``I have never seen any assassination attempt directed at me.''
