SALT LAKE CITY (AP) _ Utah forward Britton Johnsen has announced that he will leave school for two years to serve a religious mission for the Mormon church.
Johnsen was accused by North Carolina forward Makhtar Ndiaye of making a racial slur in the NCAA tournament semifinals March 28. Johnsen denied the allegation, and Ndiaye later admitted he lied about the accusation.
The 6-foot-9 Johnsen just completed his freshman year at Utah. A first-team McDonald's All-American during his senior year in high school, Johnsen was the most highly-regarded recruit to sign with Utah during coach Rick Majerus' tenure.
