PITTSBURGH (AP) _ The Pittsburgh Pirates couldn't cool off the San Diego Padres. The weatherman could.
The Padres-Pirates game was rained out Sunday and will be made up as part of a doubleheader on May 20 at 5:05 p.m. EDT.
The rainout came at an inopportune time for the Padres because the majors' hottest team now will be off two days in a row. They have won 11 of 12 and their 14-3 record represents the best start in franchise history.
Both the Padres and Pirates are off Monday.
``We're only two weeks into the season, but we've already built up a lot of confidence and momentum,'' Padres first baseman Wally Joyner said. ...
