OSWIECIM, Poland (AP) _ For most, it was their first trip to Poland: hundreds of Jewish teen-agers from the United States, Israel and around the world, seeing the sites of Nazi destruction in sleek double-decker buses.
After several days of touring the old Jewish district of Krakow, the vast Jewish cemetery in Warsaw and the scant remains of the Jewish ghetto there, some students from Miami offered their impressions:
``Gloomy.'' ``Uncivilized.'' And ``no Jews.''
These are impressions Poland would like to change, against the force of history and the potent reminders of how Jewish life here was extinguished. While not ...
