MIAMI (AP) _ For years, Knight Ridder has been closely following developments in California's Silicon Valley from its base in Miami. Now, in its latest effort to stay close to the action, the newspaper chain is moving its headquarters there.
``There is no doubt that new technology and the emerging power of the Internet will greatly affect how people will get their news and information,'' chairman and chief executive Tony Ridder said in a statement.
``As a news and information company, we want to stay very close to developments related to this new medium,'' he said.
