(Independent Florida Alligator) (U-WIRE) GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Florida needs another medical school, but Florida State University may not be the answer, the Board of Regents learned Friday.

Instead of a new medical school, the best option may be creating one-year medical training programs and linking them to the state's existing medical schools.

Former Bowman-Gray Medical School Dean Richard Janeway presented that information in a report to the Regents, the 14-member panel that oversees Florida's 10 public universities, during the final day of the Regents' two-day meeting on UF's campus.
