Driver charged in drowning deaths

GIDDINGS, Texas, March 4 (UPI) _ A central Texas woman is facing
criminal charges for attempting to cross a flooded bridge during last
October's flood, resulting in the drowning deaths of her son and
another child.

A Caldwell County grand jury has indicted 27-year-old Kathleen McCoy on
manslaughter charges for the deaths of her 7-year-old son, Devon, and
11-year-old Heather Cottle, a family friend.

Prosecutors say McCoy was driving along County Road 227 in Caldwell
County Oct. 17 when she attempted to cross a bridge over rain-swollen
Brushy Creek. McCoy and her 4-year-old son, Bryce, managed to escape
