NAIROBI, Mar. 5 (IPS) -- There are growing fears that the
Rwandese Hutu rebels, blamed for the killing of eight foreign
tourists, may turn the region into a killing field.
"As long as they are well armed, determined and believe their
solution cannot be found by going back to their respective
countries, these people will remain a threat in the region," said
Walter Oyugi of the University of Nairobi.
Oyugi's warning coincided with the announcement in Uganda today
that 25 of the rebels had been killed by Ugandan and Rwandan troops
across the border in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
