FED: Wool growers commit suicide, says sacked director
CANBERRA, Dec 2 AAP - A sacked board member of the Australian Wool Research and Promotion
(AWRAP) organisation believes wool growers have committed suicide by dumping the board.
Angered by record low prices, struggling wool growers yesterday voted to axe the board of
their marketing arm as the federal government set up a taskforce on wool promotion.
The move comes just months before crucial decisions by international buyers on the future
of the $4 billion industry, prompting sacked board member Barry Walker to declare that wool
growers had committed suicide.
