VIC: Fugitive wife wins first legal round in release bid
MELBOURNE, Jan 5 AAP - The wife of a fugitive Mexican banker today won the first round of a
legal battle to be released from immigration detention.
Teresa Pasini Cabal, 36, has been held at a Melbourne detention centre along with her
husband Carlos Cabal, wanted by Mexican authorities over an alleged US$700 million fraud.
Mexico has sought Cabal's extradition.
Last month Ms Cabal failed in a Federal Court bid to be released to spend Christmas with
four children.
But her lawyers today made a fresh Federal Court application, claiming the Immigration
Department had taken too long to ...
