VIC: Aboriginal remains to be referred to Aboriginal group

MELBOURNE, Jan 16 AAP - Old Aboriginal remains found at a popular Victorian beach resort
yesterday would be given to the Aboriginal group that traditionally lived in the area, an
expert said today.

The partial skull and bones were found at Portsea on Melbourne's Mornington Peninsula by a
landowner clearing tea-tree scrub, police said.

An investigation by the Victorian State Coroner's office today found the remains were
Aboriginal and "very old", although no precise age was established, a police spokesman said.
