PAC: Ice trek trio arrive at South Pole

MELBOURNE, Jan 26 AAP - Two Australians and a New Zealander today successfully reached the
South Pole after 84 days trekking Antarctica's harsh landscape.

Australians Eric Philips and Jon Muir and New Zealander Peter Hillary reached the South
Pole at 3.17pm (AEDT) today.

The trio faced blizzards, frostbite and illness on the 1,425km journey.
