FED: Authorities monitor echinacea after allergic reactions
BRISBANE, Feb 10 AAP - Australian health authorities will monitor allergic reactions to the
herb echinacea in the wake of increasing reports of ill-effects.
The federal government's Adverse Drug Reactions Advisory Committee has received 37 reports
over the past two years, its monthly bulletin reveals.
Echinacea, the most popular medicinal herb marketed in Australia, is used to fight off
colds and influenza symptoms.
ADRAC said more than half of the adverse reaction reports involved allergic reactions
including bronchospasm (nine reports), breathing difficulties (eight), skin rash ...
