FED: Anglican church warns of million dollar salary blow

CANBERRA, March 5 AAP - The Anglican church would be forced to pay more than $1 million in
extra salaries under proposed changes to the fringe benefits tax (FBT), a tax inquiry was told
today.

The Catholic and Anglican churches stepped up their argument against the tax package,
saying the compensation was inherently fragile, and that they would be forced to pay thousands
of dollars for new software and staff training.

Anglicare's Bishop Andrew Curnow told the Senate committee's hearing in Sydney that
compensation was sure to be eroded, particularly if economic growth slowed, placing ...
